Route 1 to San Francisco

(more catching up)

Wednesday, March 31, was Cesar Chavez Day. An actual holiday observed at SSU – not rolled up into a Monday/3-day-weekend thing. So we drove out to the coast and down Route 1 into Marin county. It was a very rainy windy day! No photos.  The road winds and twists along the coast, sometimes only inches above sea level and at other times on high cliffs overlooking the Pacific. The only place we stopped was Muir Beach Overlook. We did walk out to the overlook, which sits out on a point of cliff high over the Pacific. The wind-driven rain was such that when you turned your back to the wind (which you mostly had to do) you would see the raindrops flying horizontally away from your face!  An effect aided in no small part by the winds hitting the cliff face and driving up and over.

There are several of the “base end stations” around the small property. (see Wikipedia article)

The road is also known as “Shoreline Highway“.  Drove on into San Francisco, had dinner at the Whole Foods on California St, and then attended my evening Rigpa class.

A wonderful day!
